Help the Haitians
On
January 12th, 2010 a 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit the little country of Haiti. As I sat on my couch and watched the news I
wondered how we could help, so I asked my family what we could do. We decided that we could put together a drive to collect
food, clothing and supplies for the Haitians, then provided them to the Embassy of Haiti to deliver them. So that is what
we are doing. See Our Dive to Help for more details.
Imagine every resident of Washington, DC being homeless and every resident of Annapolis, Maryland
being killed. That is what happened in Haiti, OVER 500,000 people lost their homes and the current estimate is that OVER 100,000
people will loose their lives.
Before
you ask why we are doing this, let me just say that God has been very good to all of us Americans, rich or poor, no matter
what our religion or race. We all have it pretty good compared to Haiti.
We live in Maryland, a state that is just a little bit bigger in square miles than Haiti, but we have
about half of Haiti's population. What is really amazing is that Maryland's Gross State Product is around 260 BILLION
dollars, and Haiti's is only 11 billion dollars. This is a POOR country that has had major political issues, natural disasters
and now a major earthquake. This country is full of good people who need our help.
PLEASE NOTE:
We will NOT be accepting any financial donations, (we are not a legal charity, we are just some
people who want to help) however if you want to donate your time and energy in helping us we will be very happy to have you.
If you do want to make a
financial donation, please visit the Charities page for information on other charities that do accept financial donations.
